| POLLENTIA AND SANTA ANNA
The visit to the remains of the Roman city of Pollentia, founded in 123 BCE, is one of the most singular tours that we can offer you. The Roman city has four interesting sites: the Forum, the House of the two Treasures, the Roman theatre and the Archaeological Museum of Pollentia. |
We also recommend that you visit the chapel of Santa Anna, dating from the 13th century. The route starts by the church and can be made on foot or by bicycle. |
Cross the road to reach the remains of the city. The first remains that you will see belong to the House of the two Treasures. It was discovered during the Portella excavations in 1959. Walk back and take the road leading to the sports hall. The Chapel of Santa Anna is located 300 metres further on. It opens in the mornings. Go back 50 metres and take camí vell de Santa Anna on the right. The path crosses the Roman city. |
The path rounds a bend. A descending path starts on the inside the bend to the right. Follow it for 5 minutes. It leads to camí del Teatre Romà. Turn right moving away from Alcúdia. 100 metres further on you will find the indications to reach the theatre. |
To visit the museum take camí del Teatre Romà towards Alcúdia. Return to the starting point. The museum is located in the old quarters by the church (carrer de Sant Jaume, 30). The museum contains part of the pieces found during the excavations of the city. |
