DESCRIPTION OF THE MUNICIPALITY
Alcúdia is one of the areas of Mallorca with the most unique history, geography and social dynamics. It is a city in which history is very much alive, as evidenced by the important remains of the Roman city of Pollentia and the two city walls from the medieval and renaissance period. These sites make Alcúdia an especially attractive place from an historical point of view. Alcúdia was declared a town by King Jaume II in 1325 and the Emperor Carlos V awarded it the title of “Ciutat Fidelíssima” (most loyal city).

The municipality of Alcúdia is located on the northeast of Mallorca. It is situated between two bays in a peninsula with a total area of 60,51 sq km. It has many kilometres of coast, partly beach and partly rocky coast and even large cliffs.

The town’s social dynamics has contributed to the current tourist infrastructure based on professionalism and diversity. Alcúdia offers tourists and visitors many possibilities: history, culture, beach, mountain, wetlands and a touch of entertainment that they might need. At present, the municipality has a population of 16,000 inhabitants.
