COLL BAIX

The tour to Coll Baix is another of the natural jewels of the municipality of Alcúdia. You can finish at either the beach of Coll Baix or the Talaia of Alcúdia. Both can only be accessed on foot. Start at Porta de Mallorca (gate). Follow carrer de la Creu and carrer del Molinot. Cross carretera de Xara and continue along carrer de Jaume II. Turn left onto a road that use to lead to the port. Follow it for 100 metres. Turn left again onto camí de s'Alou. It rises up for several kilometres. The highest point of the road offers a great view of Port d'Alcúdia. The road descends for a short while and connects with Muntanya. Turn right.
The road crosses fields enclosed by dry-stone walls, which are very typical of poorer lands. Reach the nature area (2.5 Km). Initially the winding road through the pine forest continues more or less at a constant height and at the end it rises up before reaching the Coll Baix (low pass). Here you will find a small shelter that we must help to preserve as unfortunately it is often vandalized. (3Km).
Beach of Coll Baix. To reach the beach descend along a well indicated path starting at the pass. It will take you 30 minutes. Both the walk and the beach are very interesting. The walk is not especially dangerous although the path disappears during the final section and you must watch your step.

Talaia d'Alcúdia. Another option is to walk up to the Talaia. Take the path on the left of the shelter leading to the top of the mountain. The first section consists of a series of bends ascending rapidly to puig del Boc (30 minutes). It then remains flat, descends slightly and rises up again. The path follows another series of bends to the right and connects with the trail coming up from the Chapel of la Victòria (40 minutes). The climb to the top takes 5 minutes. You can return along the same way or descend to the chapel of la Victòria
